Tuesday, July 11th, 2017

Southeastern Community College English Instructor Donte McDowell was recently selected to present at the Conference on College Composition and Communication at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

The conference shared instructional strategies and pedagogical approaches on how to influence students’ writing. McDowell’s presentation discussed the use of working-class literature in the classroom to help students enhance their writing as they relate literature to their lives.

“This experience has motivated me to continue to develop my students as writers, but also to expose them to authors that may have the same experience as them,” shared McDowell.
