Wilmington artist’s work featured in Wyche Gallery

The current exhibit in the Wyche Gallery at Southeastern Community College features the work of Wilmington artist Margie Worthington. The show runs through March 31.

Margie Worthington grew up in Windsor, a small town in northeastern NC. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majored in Psychology. She then pursued an interest in pottery and spent several years as a production potter in Chapel Hill. She returned to graduate school and completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics at East Carolina University in 1984.

Worthington moved to Wilmington in 1984 and served as Curator of Education at St. John’s Museum of Art in Wilmington from 1985 to 1990. From 1990 to 2004 she was a member of the art faculty at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she taught studio courses in art history, design, painting, and mixed media. She is currently a full time studio artist working primarily in oils. Her works are included in numerous private collections and the permanent collections of the Randall Library on the campus of UNCW and the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington.
