Southeastern Community College to celebrate Homecoming Week with baseball and softball games
Southeastern Community College will host its annual Homecoming Week, inviting alumni, students, future Rams and the Columbus County community to join in the festivities. The week will kick off with a baseball game on Saturday, March 22, at 1 p.m., and will conclude with a softball game on Saturday, March 29, at 12 p.m. Both games will take place at the SCC athletic fields, with gates opening an hour before for fans to get ready for the action. Admission is $10 each.
This year marks the second Homecoming event in recent history for SCC, with a focus on bringing together current students and alumni to celebrate school spirit. The baseball and softball games will be the centerpiece of the week, giving fans the chance to cheer on the Rams as they take the field.
Celebration for All Ages
Homecoming week at SCC is packed with fun activities for attendees of all ages. In addition to the games, there will be food, games, and inflatables to enjoy. The event is free for little league and travel ball players who come in uniform, giving young athletes the chance to be part of the festivities.
Alumni will also be recognized throughout the week, with special attention given to those who graduated from SCC’s baseball and softball programs.
“We encourage all alumni to come by the gate and let us know they’re part of our athletic history,” said Hannah Isenhour, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at SCC. “It’s a great way to reconnect with old friends and celebrate the tradition of SCC athletics.”
A Spirit-Filled Week
Katie Floyd, Student Engagement Coordinator at SCC, is excited about the community coming together to support the Rams.
“This is about raising school spirit and fostering connections between our past, present and future,” she said. “We want alumni to come back and support our athletes, but we also want to inspire current students to stay connected with the college and strive for graduation.”
The week will also feature a Spirit Week, with themed clothing days to encourage participation and school pride. Themes will include “Dress Like Your Favorite Instructor Day,” “Twin Day,” “Dress Like Your Co-Worker Day,” and “School Colors Day.”
Looking Ahead to Future Traditions
Floyd also expressed hope for expanding Homecoming in the coming years. “We’d love to have a Homecoming parade in the future,” she said. “Departments could create floats, toss candy, and really bring the excitement to the next level.” For now, however, the focus is on creating a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved in this year’s celebration.
Homecoming at Southeastern Community College promises to be a week full of school spirit, community pride and support for the baseball and softball teams. Whether you’re an alum, a current student or a local fan, SCC invites everyone to join in the celebration and show their Rams pride.
