Southeastern Community College Honors Larry “LJ” Everette with Fall 2025 Staff Meritorious Service Award
Southeastern Community College (SCC) proudly recognized Larry “LJ” Everette, Transitional Studies Recruiter and High School Equivalency Examiner, as the recipient of the Fall 2025 Staff Meritorious Service Award, honoring his outstanding dedication to students, the college, and the broader community.
The award was presented during SCC’s annual employee Christmas Luncheon, where Ibreta Jackson, Vice President of Administrative Services, highlighted Everette’s unwavering commitment to service and his far-reaching impact.
“Today we recognize an employee whose dedication to Southeastern Community College and our community truly stands out,” Jackson said. “In his role, LJ consistently goes above and beyond to support students, offering outreach, guidance, and encouragement that help them reach their educational goals.”
Everette’s commitment extends well beyond his daily responsibilities. He plays a major role each year in SCC’s Trunk or Treat event, helping welcome thousands of families to campus for a safe, joyful, and community-centered experience. His leadership with the H.E.A.R.T.S. Foundation and volunteer service throughout the region further reflect his deep passion for helping others and strengthening the community SCC serves.
He also represents the college with excellence on a broader stage. Everette was instrumental in bringing the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) Prison Symposium to SCC’s campus and worked tirelessly to ensure its success. From greeting guests to coordinating event details, his professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile earned high praise from attendees and partners alike.
On campus, Everette is known not only for his outstanding job performance but also for the creativity and enthusiasm he brings to college events. His event décor, balloon designs, and thoughtful personal touches add warmth and excitement to SCC celebrations, showcasing pride in the institution and a genuine desire to make every experience special.
Everette also models lifelong learning, continually refining his skills and generously sharing his talents to enrich SCC, its students, and the surrounding community.
“It is clear that LJ embodies service, leadership, and dedication at the highest level,” Jackson said. “We are honored to recognize his contributions with the Fall 2025 Staff Meritorious Service Award.”
