Register for spring semester for a chance to win a $500 Visa gift card
“Spring into your future” at Southeastern Community College with spring registration starting on Nov. 3. Register on or before Dec. 12 to automatically enter a $500 Visa gift card drawing. Students may register online through Self Service or visit Student Services in A-building at SCC to speak with a student advisor: Julia Roberts, Jordan White or Jonathan Christian-Hodges.
New programs for this coming semester are Heavy Equipment Operator Training and Paralegal. Heavy Equipment Operator Training students will get hands-on experience with bulldozers, excavators and skid steers. Paralegal students will get the training they need in conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, interviewing clients and witnesses, managing case files and assisting attorneys during trials.
With NC Reconnect funding, the Electrical Lineman Training program is free, and the next class of Truck Driver Training has a waived registration fee. Electrical Lineman Training program orientation is Jan. 8, and Truck Driver Training Orientation is Dec. 10. Short-term training programs prepare adult learners for high-wage careers in Columbus County.
“From an admissions standpoint, I would advise students to register early for classes,” said Trina Davis, Director of Admissions/Registrar. “The benefit is that students can secure the classes they need for their program before they reach capacity.”
Davis explained that the student who receives the $500 Visa gift card could use it to purchase books and supplies not covered by financial aid or use it on whatever they choose. She said the admissions office is available to answer any questions that students may have about their classes. She recommended that high school students book appointments with their CCP advisors, Khadijah Tart and Lynn Leonard, to sign up for classes.
“I am very excited to start meeting with our CCP students for spring registration,” Leonard said. “Early registration lets them see that their goals are within reach and a step closer to the completion of their pathway plan. The students are creating their future by doing what they do today! How hopeful and exciting that is!”
Student Advisors Julia Roberts and Jordan White are available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jonathan Christian-Hodges is available until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
“Register early for your best chance to get the courses you want at the time you need to fit your work and family schedule,” Roberts said.
The first day of the spring semester is Jan. 12, 2026. Students are advised to register before the spring semester starts.
