New Fund Established to Support SCC Small Business Center and Honor Local Entrepreneur’s Legacy

Southeastern Community College has established a new fund to support the Small Business Center while honoring the life and legacy of local entrepreneur and small business advocate, Sally McKenzie Page High.

The Sally McKenzie Page High SCC Small Business Center Fund was created through an initial gift of $30,000 from Sarah Page Shifflet and Paul Milton Page in memory of their mother, Sally McKenzie Page High. The fund will provide ongoing annual support for the SCC Small Business Center and establish the Sally McKenzie Page High Entrepreneur Community Award.

Honoring a Legacy of Small Business Support

Throughout her life, Sally McKenzie Page High was a dedicated supporter of small businesses in Columbus County. She was actively involved in McKenzie Mortuary and Court Square Store in downtown Whiteville, where she developed a deep appreciation for the role small businesses play in strengthening communities and supporting local families.

Her legacy reflects a lifelong commitment to entrepreneurship, community connection, and local economic growth.

Investing in Local Entrepreneurs

This fund will help ensure that entrepreneurs and small business owners in the region continue to have access to valuable training, counseling, and resources through the SCC Small Business Center.

The annual Sally McKenzie Page High Entrepreneur Community Award will recognize individuals who demonstrate strong entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to making a positive impact in their community.

“My mother understood the importance of small businesses and the difference they make in a community,” said Sarah Page Shifflet. “It is my hope that this fund will help future entrepreneurs succeed and continue to strengthen the economy in Columbus County.”
