SCC to host 4th annual President’s Ball at Vineland Station

Southeastern Community College will hold its 4th annual President’s Ball at Vineland Station in downtown Whiteville on March 29. The event, organized by the SCC Foundation, will offer a festive evening of entertainment, fundraising and community engagement, all in support of the college’s students. Terrie Priest, Executive Director of the SCC Foundation, said all proceeds benefit the RamsFund.

Priest said the most exciting part of the President’s Ball is the sense of community. “This will be the 4th annual President’s Ball, and there’s always an exciting feeling of coming together with people who share a common passion for SCC and the students we serve,” she explained. “This year’s Mardi Gras theme is sure to bring a level of excitement to the event, and we’re thrilled to have the band ‘Covers’ providing entertainment throughout the evening.”

According to Priest, the planning process is going smoothly thanks to the support of a dedicated committee and staff. She said the venue, music and food will make for an “unforgettable evening.”

“Plans are going great. We’ve had a lot of help from our team in organizing the event,” Priest said. “This year, we’ve moved the location to Vineland Station in downtown Whiteville, which is a fabulous space that everyone is familiar with. Our community has been incredibly supportive, and we’re grateful to Dr. Peter Chambers (Surf Doc), this year’s top sponsor, who is serving as the BAND Sponsor for the event. We appreciate all our sponsors, as they make the event possible. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor is welcome to reach out to us.”

Attendees can look forward to a lively evening, Priest said. “Guests can expect great entertainment, a fabulous silent auction and a delicious cocktail dinner buffet with a Mardi Gras twist,” she said. “It will be a fun evening dedicated to supporting our college and the students we serve.”

Priest emphasized the significance of the RamsFund, which helps meet the immediate needs of the college and its students. “The RamsFund provides flexibility to address the most urgent needs at SCC,” she said. “The funds raised can be used for things like professional development, mini-grants, program enhancements or covering emergency expenses that may arise for students.”

The event will feature a meal provided by Cook & Company Catering. Priest also noted the semi-formal dress code, with a Mardi Gras flair. “We hope to see lots of purple, green and gold, and of course, Mardi Gras masks are encouraged.”

Tickets for the President’s Ball are available through the SCC Foundation. Tickets are $100 per person and $75 per person for SCC employees. For more information, or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities, contact Terrie Priest or Melissa Hodge at the SCC Foundation office at 910-788-6260.
