SCC welcomes Chase Green as new communication instructor
Chase Green, a Lumberton native, is Southeastern Community College’s newest full-time communication instructor and faculty advisor for Phi Theta Kappa, an international college honor society. Since starting in January, Green said the great sense of community between students, staff and instructors is his favorite aspect of SCC.
“Southeastern Community College presented an opportunity that felt like the perfect fit at the perfect time,” Green said. “The college’s commitment to student success and innovation really resonated with me. I’m excited to be part of a team that values education and fosters growth, both for students and educators alike.”
At SCC, Green teaches Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking and Introduction to Communication. He said his love for communication is shown in his teaching style. He emphasized his commitment to helping students develop skills that will serve them in both academic and professional settings.
“In my classroom, students will experience an interactive and supportive environment where they can build confidence in their communication skills. I aim to create a space where all students feel valued and encouraged to grow,” Green explained.
Green’s long-term career goal is to inspire college students by teaching essential communication skills that will benefit them in the workplace and in life.
“Effective communication is the foundation of success, whether it’s speaking confidently in front of a group or collaborating in the workplace,” he said. “I’m excited to help students develop those skills and prepare them for future opportunities.”
Green’s educational journey began at Lumberton Senior High School, where he graduated in June 2014. He continued his studies at Pitt Community College, earning an associate of arts degree in December 2016.
Green completed a bachelor of science in mass communication with a concentration in public relations at UNC Pembroke in December 2019. In 2021, Green earned a masters degree in communication from Arizona State University, and he is set to complete a masters degree in business administration from UNCP in May 2025.
Before joining SCC, Green gained work experience in higher education as an adjunct instructor at community colleges throughout the Carolinas. His career includes roles as Operations Manager at Follett Higher Education Group/UNCP Bookstore, Graduate Recruiter/Enrollment Coordinator at UNC Pembroke, Pharmacy Admissions Coordinator at Campbell University, and most recently, Administrative Specialist at Central Carolina Community College.
“Everyone—from faculty and staff to students and local leaders—has been welcoming and supportive,” Green said. “The collaborative environment makes it clear that SCC is dedicated to both student success and the success of its educators.”
Outside of work, Green enjoys exploring the North Carolina mountains and beaches, discovering new cities and loves all things cars. He values community involvement and community service from local non-profit organizations. Previously, Green was an active member of Kiwanis-Robeson Young Professionals and participated in Public Relations Student Society of America and Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity at UNC Pembroke.
