Next NC Scholarship to fully cover tuition and fees for many North Carolina community college students

Students whose families earn $80k or less should complete the FAFSA to apply!

This fall, get money for college that you don’t have to pay back. The Next NC Scholarship is a financial aid program that helps most North Carolinians from households making $80,000 or less pursue higher education by fully covering tuition and fees at Southeastern Community College. The best part? It’s money that doesn’t have to be repaid.

At Southeastern Community College (SCC), we’re committed to making education accessible and affordable. If you’re considering joining our SCC family or are currently enrolled, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your first step toward potentially securing this scholarship. Remember, the priority filing date for this amazing opportunity is August 5, 2024. Don’t let this chance slip by!

Need help completing your FASFA application? We’re here to help every step of the way. Our financial aid team is ready to help with the FAFSA and inform you about other available financial aid options. Beyond the Next NC Scholarship, SCC offers additional scholarships—completing the FAFSA opens these doors, too.

The Next NC Scholarship supplements the federal Pell Grant with the state-funded financial aid program to create a simpler scholarship experience than in previous years. The scholarship can also be applied toward books, food, housing and other educational expenses. The Next NC Scholarship was created in partnership between the North Carolina Community College System, North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, and University of North Carolina System, with state funding provided in part by the NC Education Lottery.
