TEAS Test

The ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is a standardized exam that measures your readiness for health science programs. It evaluates your skills in Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.

The TEAS exam is required for students applying to an SCC Nursing Program. If you completed the exam at another institution, official transcripts must be sent directly from ATI through your personal ATI account before you submit your program application. Partial transcripts will not be accepted.

TEAS testing through SCC is available only to current SCC students who plan to apply for a Nursing Program. Students who are not enrolled at SCC should register and take the exam directly through ATI Testing.

Before You Test

Here’s what to know before scheduling your exam:

  • The TEAS exam costs $70 plus tax, payable online by credit or debit card on the day of testing.
  • Official transcripts must be sent directly from ATI if you tested elsewhere.
  • All TEAS exams through SCC are administered remotely. You’ll need a compatible computer, required software, and a reliable internet connection.
  • Students who are not current SCC students should schedule directly through ATI Testing.

Prepare for Success

It’s important to prepare early for the TEAS exam. ATI—the official provider of test prep materials—recommends allowing at least six weeks of study time. Each resource below is aligned to the ATI TEAS Version 7 and mirrors the format and content of the actual exam.

There are a few steps to complete before scheduling your TEAS exam. Make sure to complete each one in order to avoid issues on test day.

  1. Create an ATI student account by following the ATI account setup instructions.
  2. Review the ATI TEAS at Institution QuickStart Guide.
  3. Complete the TEAS Exam Dry Run to make sure your computer and internet connection meet the requirements.
  4. After completing the steps above, schedule your TEAS exam using the link below. You may not schedule more than one exam date at a time.

Upcoming Test Dates

All TEAS exams through Southeastern Community College are administered remotely. Students must have access to a compatible computer, required software, and a reliable internet connection to complete the exam.

The following dates are available for testing through SCC:

  • December 3, 2025 at 1 p.m.

Students must schedule their testing date at least 24 hours in advance using their SCC email address. On the morning of the scheduled exam, students will receive an access code 30 minutes prior to the start time via their SCC email.

Why do I have to take the TEAS?

The ATI TEAS has been proven to be a valid predictor of early nursing school success. Your score on the TEAS helps Southeastern Community College evaluate your readiness for the Nursing Program.

What does the TEAS exam include?

The ATI TEAS consists of 170 questions, including both multiple-choice and alternate-type items. Of these, 150 questions are scored and 20 are unscored pretest questions. Students have 209 minutes to complete the exam.

What are the minimum score requirements for admission?

To be eligible for admission to either the Associate Degree Nursing or Practical Nursing program, applicants must have a minimum composite TEAS score of 59% or higher. Scores from multiple TEAS attempts cannot be combined to meet this requirement.

How long are TEAS scores valid?

TEAS scores are valid for two years prior to the program application period.

How many times can I take the TEAS exam?

You may take the TEAS exam up to three times within one calendar year. A minimum of one month is required between testing attempts.

Can I combine scores from multiple attempts?

No. Scores from multiple testing attempts may not be combined to meet the minimum score requirement.
