Types of Reports

Choose the option that best fits your situation below. If you’re unsure, call 910-642-7141 for guidance.

Report a Student Grievance

For emergencies, please see the notice at the top of this page.

This process is open to any student seeking resolution for unfair treatment in student-to-student or student-to-employee interactions during their association with SCC. Grievances may include general complaints, disciplinary appeals, or alleged unjust or discriminatory treatment.

Before filing a formal grievance: Students should first attempt an informal resolution by discussing the concern directly with the individual involved within five (5) business days of the incident.

If the issue is not resolved informally, students may submit a written grievance to begin the formal process. Grade appeals follow a separate procedure.

Report Sexual Misconduct or Sex-Based Discrimination (Title IX)

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in any education program or activity receiving federal funding. This includes protection against sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and discrimination based on gender identity or expression.

For direct assistance:
Students should contact the Dean of Student Services.
Employees should contact the Director of Human Resources.

Report Discrimination or Equity Concerns (Non–Title IX)

Southeastern Community College is committed to providing a learning and working environment free from discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. This includes protection against discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, disability, age, or other legally protected characteristics under federal and state law.

Complaints involving sex-based discrimination should be reported under Title IX.

For direct assistance:
Students should contact the Dean of Student Services.
Employees should contact the Director of Human Resources.

Report a Crime or Campus Safety Concern

For emergencies, please see the notice at the top of this page.

Use this option to report known or suspected violations of law, dangerous or suspicious activity, or other campus safety concerns. Information can be given anonymously.

Off-campus incidents: Students participating in college-sponsored activities should report the incident to local law enforcement and then notify SCC Campus Police.

Request or Release Student Records (FERPA)

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of student education records and outlines how SCC may share or release information. Students may submit a form to release or restrict access to their records.
