Diego Figueiredo and Chiara Izzi take the stage as part of the Richard F. Burkhardt Fine & Performing Arts series. The concert will take place on Friday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the SCC Auditorium.
Diego fuses jazz, bossa nova and classical music, blending his virtuosic technique with an infectious interpretation of standards from the Brazilian and American Songbooks. Diego Figueiredo (pronounced fig-a-ray-doe) is a new star of the guitar world. He is only 37, and he has released 23 CDs, 3 DVDs, and he has played in more than 60 countries around the world. He will be joined by award-winning Italian singer and songwriter Chiara Izzi has been described as “a talent to be heard, admired and anticipated” by Jazz Times after the release of her debut album “Motifs”. Chiara’s international debut took place at the Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Competition in 2011 where she was awarded first prize by Quincy Jones. Together the duo will bring a unique blend of sounds from around the world.
