Southeastern Community College (SCC) and Gardner-Webb University (GWU) recently entered into a memorandum of understanding called the Transfer Admission Promise (TAP). Under the agreement, SCC graduates who complete Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science or Associate in General Education degrees will be guaranteed admission to GWU.

“There’s no reason that transition from a North Carolina Community College to a 4-year institution shouldn’t be a seamless and painless process for the student,” according to Ben Leslie, interim president of GWU. “Unfortunately, that is often not the case. Gardner-Webb is proud to partner with Southeastern Community College and other select community colleges across the state to make that process as easy as possible for the student. Our Transfer Admission Promise (TAP) agreement will provide community college graduates with a plan and with the confidence that they can continue their studies toward a bachelor’s degree in a reasonable period of time without unnecessary repeating of courses.”

Students accepted at GWU must comply with all applicable academic regulations as listed in GWU’s Undergraduate Program Catalog and will be required to complete GWU’s admission process.

“Increasing guaranteed transfer opportunities is an ongoing goal at SCC,” said SCC President Dr. Anthony Clarke. “This agreement with Gardner-Webb University demonstrates our commitment to establishing a smooth transfer process for SCC graduates.”
