Southeastern Community College has announced graduation plans for the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021. The college will hold a drive-thru-style ceremony on Friday, May 14.
“We have all been through so much this year – and I have been so proud of the resilience our students have shown,” shared Dr. English, SCC President. “As we approach Commencement 2021, and as North Carolina begins to slowly reopen businesses and in-person events, it’s important for us to follow guidelines from the Governor’s office. We want to make sure our graduates are safely celebrated.”
Graduating students, as well as those that graduated last year and missed out on a commencement ceremony due to the pandemic, will be able to walk across the stage this year.
The deadline for students to apply to graduate and walk has been extended to Friday, April 16.
A drive-thru-style will be our last big effort to ensure the wellness of our students and community before everything at SCC goes back to normal. The college is hopeful to host seated in-person graduation in 2022.
Starting Fall 2021, everyone will be back on campus with more in-person learning.
