Wyche Gallery features commercial fine art photographer

The current SCC Wyche Gallery exhibit, “Stories and Storytellers,” features the work of commercial fine art photographer Harry Taylor. The exhibit runs through November 2 and the artists’ reception is Tuesday, October 30 from 5-7 p.m.

“Working with large format cameras, long exposures and chemical processes, I seek to the conjure the energy of memory from the land and from people I meet there,” says Taylor. “I’m also drawn to do portraits of writers who have given us indelible images of this Cape Fear region.”

Taylor’s work has been featured in Haven Magazine, The Oxford American, Our State, Coastal Living, Slate.com, Justapose, NPR radio pictures blog. Time Lightbox, The Atlantic, The Paris Review and Garden and Gun, on Television in Sleepy Hollow, in the film Bolden! and on CBS Sunday Morning.

The Wyche Gallery, located upstairs in A Building, features work by local and regional artists. It offers an educational opportunity to our students and community through exhibitions, visiting artist lectures, and artist workshops. New exhibits are on view every six weeks during the Spring and Fall semesters. The Student Art Show, held each April, features work created by students in the studio courses during the academic year. Funding for the gallery is provided by the SCC Foundation.
